Mate is a special herbal drink like tea prepared by steeping dried leaves of yerba mate in hote water. The Uruguayan people drink mate old day long. In fact mate is so popular in Uruguay that you find hot water dispensers in many gas stations through the country.
Mate is served in special cup with a metal straw. It is very caffeine-rich and keeps those who drink it energizing all day.
