A cat named Socks is quickly becoming the next pet celebrity.

Socks, also known as Sockington, is a cat from Waltham, MA. The cat uses the website Twitter to share his daily thoughts, which often revolve around food, his friend Pennycat, and playing with a toy named Baron Von Shakymouse. He has quickly shot to Internet fame.

Some of Sock’s most recent posts include “CURRENT SCORE SOCKINGTON TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY wooden shelf zero CLAW CLAW CLAW make that two hundred and forty one” and “OH BACK PAWS YOU MAKE THE PERFECT PILLOW thank goodness I kept you around ZZZZZZZZZZ.”

So far, the Twitter cat has drawn over 500,000 followers, described as his “Socks Army” and is also the star of a series of Internet videos and a line of T-shirts.

Sock’s followers put him closely behind Miley Cyrus who has over 570,000. The 500,000 strong “Socks Army” has so far surpassed other celebrities such as Kate Perry and Kim Kardashian.

Twitter has drawn celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher, Lindsey Lohan and British comedian Stephen Fry. The micro-blogging website allows the user to 140 character messages to share thoughts with others.
