TV on the Radio’s third outing builds on the space soul blueprint of their previous two albums, whilst crucially also allowing itself to be that most frivolous of things—good fun. The previous two works were immaculately made but seemed trussed in a stylistic straightjacket of which only a couple of stellar singles could break free. Album opener ‘Halfway Home’ introduces the new fun loving band in no uncertain terms; all hand claps and ba-ba-bas. From then on this is a showcase for a band with seemingly unlimited ideas. Prince looms large on ‘Golden Age’ and ‘Crying’ but truly this band is quite unlike any other making music today.
