Whether you like to spend your holidays partying, exploring, or simply kicking back and relaxing on the beach, here’s our top pick of the country’s coastal resorts.

Elounda, Crete: With its boutique hotels, delicious eateries and picturesque views, Elounda is where members of the jet set come when they want to chill out. It’s surrounded by beautiful beaches, and thanks to Crete’s archeological heritage there are plenty of ancient sites to explore as well.

Agia Marina, Crete: Another Cretian resort, Agia Marina is low-cost, easily accessible and blessed with a beautiful beach. Nearby Platanias is also packed with tavernas, bars and clubs – perfect for those who like to party.

Faliraki, Rhodes: If you prefer to be a little closer to the clubs then don’t miss out on a trip to Rhodes’ premier party destination. Young, funky and boasting sandy beaches as well as the most popular clubs on the island, it’s perfect for party animals. Book through a site which offers cheap Rhodes holidays, such as On The Beach, to take advantage of the best deals.

Amorgos: Greece doesn’t just offer party towns and resort beaches – among the country’s many islands are plenty that tempt visitors with peace and utter privacy. If you’re looking for a true escape, then you can’t do better than Amorgos. This tiny island doesn’t have its own airport, so visitors must get the boat from Naxos or Santorini. Those that do are rewarded by beautiful beaches, a sparse population and excellent prices.

Zakynthos: Once a rural Greek backwater, Zakynthos

(or Zante as some call it) has transformed itself in recent years into a buzzing clubbing resort popular among English teenagers. If you’re young, funky and in love with partying then head to the main resort town of Laganas, which is where most of the bars and clubs are based. If, on the other hand, you want to take advantage of cheap package prices without sampling the club culture, then the other side of the island is still remarkably beautiful and unspoilt.
