When you are born with hearing loss, hearing for the first time can be a bit overwhelming. This makes a lot of sense, considering that you are basically gaining a new sense, and it can be overpowering if you are not used to it.
Archer is a young infant who was born with severe hearing loss. When he was just 3 weeks old, his parents realized he was not able to hear their voices. Archer was taken to the doctor to get hearing aids implanted. It took another 2 months of waiting before he was able to get hearing aids.
“Can you hear us, Archer?” His mother asked the young child. The child started to cry, unable to cope with this new sense that he was unaware of. He soon was just staring at the ceiling, apparently dazed, but amazed. Throughout the video, he seemed to be a mix between being happy and being overwhelmed.
When he finally got used to the fact that he could hear, he seemed filled with happiness that he could now hear his mother and father’s voices. He started to smile and giggle as he looked onto his mother’s face.
His mother continued to hold and rock him as she talked to him in a low voice. Getting young Archer used to the fact that he is now able to hear. This is a cute and wonderful story, which shows how far medical science has gone in helping to correct issues that many people have had since birth.
