Arriving highly recommended by Paul Weller, you can hear so many influences on this debut album: The Beatles, Santana, The Specials, even touches of The Doors, Bowie and Pink Floyd ... But the best way to truly pay respect to such legendary artists is to be original yourself, and this is often sadly lacking here. The best tracks are exactly the ones that don’t sound like classic bands of yesteryear. ‘Promise Not To Tell’ and ‘Everyday Hero’ both have a unique and fresh sound that genuinely impresses. If The Moons can really find their own voice, try not to be too clever and neat, then in the future we can expect great things.
