‘The erhu is an extraordinary instrument,’ Theatergoer Says
Laurin Otten and John Pritchard enjoyed the Shen Yun performance at the Miller High Life Theatre, in Milwaukee, Wis., on March 18, 2018. Laurin Otten thought the digital backdrop "was unique—I've never really seen anything like that before and they integrated it with the live performance very well." (Nancy Ma/The Epoch Times)

“We really enjoyed it. The erhu is an extraordinary instrument, such an amazing sound. At first when we heard it, it sounded like vocal work. It’s just so beautiful. We had a great time.”

“The state of quality and the animation—it was beautifully done. The fluidity of the dancers too. It isn’t like gymnastics at all. In gymnastics you can tell there is a real physical effort, [with Shen Yun dancers] it just looks like they’re floating. It was beautiful—just so fluid.”

“[The traditional Chinese culture is] very interesting. For me, I was a potter for a long time, so when they talk of the Tang dynasty or something, I’m creating it with the work that I know from those periods.”
