KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company’s premiere in Kaohsiung on April 6 attracted quite a crowd. Among the audience was Yu Chu-cheng, chairman of the board of the Kaohsiung City Teachers Association. He said Shen Yun presented a truly “remarkable artistic show.”

Mr. Yu was seated in the second row and was surprised to find the Shen Yun International Company Orchestra was just in front of the stage. He exclaimed, “I didn’t know the orchestra was just in front of me. I felt that the music harmonized very well with the dances. The overall effect was wonderful.”
Shen Yun’s one-of-a-kind orchestra, with its all-original compositions, blends East and West, producing one fresh, unexpected sound, according to the company’s website.
Mr. Yu was also amazed by the seamless coordination between the dancers and the music in the Celestial Beauty, in which a heavenly melody fills the air as fairy maidens play flutes. Delicate and light, the maidens leave beauty and inspiration in their wake.
Mr. Yu was able to see clearly the gorgeous costumes that span China’s dynasties, regions, and ethnic groups. He said that the glorious colors made the costumes look very brilliant and beautiful, and the workmanship of the costumes was very exquisite, making the garments look very elegant and graceful. “In these regards, I can sense Shen Yun‘s respect for the audience by presenting its most beautiful artistic performance to them,” he said.
Shen Yun performs every year with an all-new program and Mr. Yu said that he would tell his fellow members about Shen Yun in time for them to catch next year’s performance.
