SYDNEY—“If you are looking within yourself and looking for answers in life, you should watch the show. It will complete you.”

Macquarie Links International Golf Club Executive Chef, Ved Prasad, was speaking of the Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company that debuted at Sydney’s iconic Capitol Theatre on Tuesday evening, Feb. 8.

The New York-based Shen Yun set the stage ablaze in a program that brought a glimpse of ancient China into the 21st century portrayed through classical Chinese dance, music and song.

“I think it’s brilliant, fantastic. I think whatever I say is not good enough for what I’ve seen today. Beautiful,” Mr. Prasad emphasized.

He said he couldn’t single out one scene as better than the other in the world premiere program.

“I would say that every performance was linked to another one … . It’s complete,” Mr. Prasad said.

He was touched by the sense of peace and freedom conveyed throughout the program, to be “able to live and utilise your life freely", he added.

Speaking philosophically, each time the curtain rose to reveal a new scene, Mr. Prasad said he thought whenever people watched this show, they would forget about those around them.

“They just believe whatever is displayed is within them, because they search their heart.

“Every time I watched, I searched my own heart to actually see what I have. I know this is about us as well, so I think everybody can find in their conscious, it [show] is true.”

He said that each message touched him deeply.

“It touches me right inside, because it is a message from the heart, and it touches the heart, I felt that. Because every show, every part of the show gave a message to me … a philosophy, I could relate to myself.”

Mr. Prasad had a hard time finding the right words to describe the performance that transported him from divine realms to the depths of despair, and back to beauty and joviality again.

“It’s hard to say in words … every message portrayed also showed the positive side of it as well, so it’s not only negative.

“And from what I saw, every time they portrayed the message of people, individuals living in China—what they have shown are both positive and negative. And I don’t think you can take anything away from them.”
