A Taco Bell employee was photographed licking food and was sent onto Taco Bell’s Facebook account before going viral.
The fast food chain on Monday reacted to the photo.
The photo shows a man licking a stack of taco shells and was posted on the “Jj O'Brien Nolan” Facebook account.
NBC News reported that the photo was taken at a restaurant in California.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and team members, and we have strict food handling procedures and zero tolerance for any violations,” a company spokesman stated to NBC.
It added: “When we learned of the situation we immediately contacted this restaurant’s leadership and although we believe it is a prank and the food was not served to customers, we are conducting a full scale investigation and will be taking swift action against those involved.”
The “Jj O'Brien Nolan” account posted to Taco Bell’s wallk, saying it “sure says a lot about your employees, food treatment, and what they post on the internet,” adding it was taken in Ridgecrest, Calif.
