The case is set to challenge a Supreme Court decision that has been upheld for more than 45 years.
The new law is meant to challenge an earlier SCOTUS ruling barring the use of capital punishment in cases without death or intent to kill.
“You can’t do this to families. We need to defend our law enforcement officers, and that’s not—that’s a disgrace,” Clinkunbroomer’s mother told ABC News.
