Acura introduced its 2017 MDX luxury SUV with new design and luxury features at the New York International Auto Show on March 23.
Acura has recalled two models because the automatic emergency braking systems can malfunction and put the vehicles at risk of a collision
There were a number of good things to write about with the Acura ILX entry level luxury sedan after it arrived on scene as a 2013 model, but performance and driving excitement were lacking—at least in the hybrid edition we were evaluating. Our conclusion at the time, the ILX didn’t make our recommended list.
The MDX is sleek and muscular, but distinctive in a style that is yoked to an air of elegance. The MDX sets the standards for a smart luxury SUV that seats seven. Acura engineers have refined the 290 hp 3.5 liter V6 direct injection engine that performs with exhilaration, yet still gets an estimated 28 mpg highway in front-wheel drive configuration. My driving experience netted me just a tad under that. The 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential sport/shift added to the positive vehicular atmosphere.
Acura introduced its next-generation TL model, the TLX, at the New York International Auto Show.
While Acura trimmed some significant weight from the latest version of its best-selling MDX crossover, it also cut horsepower and subtly advanced the design. This may sound like playing it too safe with the all-new third-generation, but we discovered that Acura actually took a solid step forward. The proof is in the details—and the driving.
