Often called the ’second Galapagos’, Socotra is a rarely-visited Island off the coast of Yemen. This is a forgotten and mysterious place, with fierce winds, few people.

The island is very isolated and a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the planet. It has been described as “the most alien-looking place on Earth”. The island measures 132 kilometres (82 mi) in length and 49.7 kilometres (30.9 mi) in width.

Socotra was separated from mainland many millions years ago.

As result there are about 300 species of plants which are found nowhere else in the world.

Socotra is special in many ways. It has very strong winds, bright white sand and the bluest water one can imagine.
