The road to good health begins with small manageable steps. Each season presents a unique opportunity to gently support specific detox organs. But don’t worry, juice fasts and starvation periods are not necessary.

Pure, whole foods, prepared the right way for each season, allow our bodies to relax and let go of accumulated toxins. Simple food-based cleanses are an easy way to gain and maintain vitality. These tips will get you started.

Liver and Gallbladder

Spring is the time to cleanse the liver and gallbladder. Eat fresh, young, green plants. Add lemon with a teaspoon of olive oil to your water. Spring is also a good time to do a castor oil pack.

Heart and Small Intestines

Summer is the time to nourish the heart and small intestines. Eat all types of seasonal fruits and vegetables, focusing on ones that are red or bitter such as kale, dandelion, arugula, and endive.

Colon, Lungs, and Skin

Autumn is a good time to cleanse the colon, lungs, and skin. Add onions, garlic, ginger, daikon, peppers, and cayenne to your meals. Let go of any accumulated toxic emotions.

Kidneys and Adrenals

Winter is the time to focus on the kidneys and adrenals. Eat nourishing broths and foods like miso, eggs, and sea vegetables, and drink herbal teas. Also be sure to get enough sleep.
