In fact, Mr. Fernández loved the performance so much that it was the second time this season that he watched it.
“I had the chance to see it at the premiere on the 9th, and today I said, well, I have to come back and see this show again,” he said. “The classical dance that truly showcases China is spectacular.”
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive the 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture. It was founded in 2006 in New York and has since grown to eight equally sized groups touring the world, showing the beauty of China before communism.
Mr. Fernández said that he saw a “message of hope” in the programs that depict traditional values.
“One can truly connect with values, with creativity, and that this can perfectly be a combination through which we can become better people every day,” he said.
Mr. Fernández described what he saw the second time around.
“You sit down [for the second time] with a different mindset, ready to notice all the details,” he said. “The use of colors really makes an impact.”
He was especially impressed by Shen Yun’s digital backdrop.
“The use of technology, the screens—it’s something that is truly spectacular; it really gets us all excited. Even though I was already familiar with it, every moment it unfolds, you discover it anew and come to appreciate it more,” he said.
To the Shen Yun artists, Mr. Fernández said, “I truly congratulate you, a multidisciplinary team you have; the ensemble you created is extraordinary.”
“Tomorrow is your last day here in Argentina, but I’m hopeful that in 2027 we can once again enjoy this great show that you bring to Buenos Aires,” he said.
