YUANLIN, Taiwan—Legislator Weng Jinzhu, former Changhua County Mayor and chairman of Council for Cultural Affairs Council (CCA), said after seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts in Changhua County on March 25, “Shen Yun has a unique style to represent traditional arts. It not only helps the audience understand Chinese traditional culture, but also it’s a sharing of the arts, and of course, a delightful experience!

“This show is very successful. It’s hard to get all seats occupied. Most performances can only sell 60 or 70 percent of tickets, at the most 80 or 90 percent. But I find today 100 percent have been sold,” legislator Weng said. She said that she heard the tickets were sold out when she arrived, but another audience member offered her his own ticket.

When Ms. Weng was Changhua County Mayor and chairman of CCA, she spared no effort to promote cultural development. So, she had a deep feeling about Shen Yun’s revival of China’s traditional culture and arts. “A lot of traditional arts and culture in China were eliminated during the Great Cultural Revolution. Shen Yun brings back Chinese traditional arts and culture and passes them on. I think it is very important,” she said.

Ms.Weng was moved to see Shen Yun perform classical Chinese dance paired with the effect of the high technological backdrop.

In addition, she remarked that whether the programs presented historical stories or those reflecting the current situation in Chinese society, they were represented with a kind of peaceful and otherworldly spirit. “In China, Falun Gong practitioners’ faith in gods enables them to stand up to the persecution. I think it is very touching.”
