VIENNA, Austria—Vienna, home of the waltz, the beautiful Blue Danube, and the Vienna choirboys, welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts with the most brilliant shining sun the city could provide in April.

While early season ice cream lovers visited one of the many ice cream parlors and pursued their passion for Stracciatella-Chocolate nut ice cream, those with ardor for the arts came to the Vienna Town Hall to see the renewal of the 5,000-year-old Chinese culture.

The Pellegrini family was among those who were drawn to the Shen Yun performance and who were thrilled to be in the audience. Mr. Pellegrini, head of a media and marketing agency, said that he was deeply touched by Shen Yun’s spiritual message.

“Besides the artistic rendition I also was impressed with the spiritual information, the connection between heaven and earth, and that there is an interchange between the two. One can climb down from heaven,” he said, and then added with a big smile, “and naturally climb back up again!”

He took with him a number of Shen Yun’s messages, which are in some ways similar to those in Christian culture.

“I believe that the different cultures and religions come from the same background. This could be recognized rather well during this show,” Mr. Pellegrini said.

The Pellegrini parents agreed that the colors were “incredible.”

Mrs. Pellegrini, a dancer who also heads a children’s dance group, described the dances as “without equal when it comes to gracefulness.”

The Vienna concert audience, well known for its critical eyes and ears—not for nothing are the Vienna’s New Year concerts transmitted to the entire world year after year—was generous with applause and positive critiques.

The scenes Dragon Spring Drummers, Mulan Joins the Battle, and the songs sung by Tenor Hong Ming captivated the Vienna audience.

The Pellegrinis brought two of their three children to the show. They had seen the show’s beautiful colors at a promotional booth in a shopping center.

“The youngest is too young,” Mrs. Pellegrini said.

The family agreed that being in the audience of the Shen Yun performance was without doubt worthwhile.

“I favored the dances and the colors. It was remarkable,” said 12-year-old Miss Pellegrini.
