VANCOUVER, British Columbia—Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company launched its first Vancouver 2009 World Tour show on April 3. As Vancouver is a city with a large Chinese population, many Chinese were in the audience.

“The movements in the Drummers of the Tang Court were very strong and masculine. Without solid and continuous training, such movement is unachievable. That is very different from of other drum shows,” said Shen Qi, a former general of the Chinese Nationalist Party (Kuomintang of Taiwan).

Qiao Baotai, a professor of Chinese culture, said that Shen Yun manifested the essence of Chinese culture. He said that people need to see it a few times to truly understand all the details and content.

“There hasn’t been such a wonderful Chinese show overseas. It embraces the essence of our traditional five-millennia-old tradition. The inner meaning was very rich, and someone needs to watch it a few times to understand fully. [The show included] etiquette, compassion, and benevolence—these are all very precious values.”

After completing its seven-show run in Vancouver, Shen Yun Performing Arts will continue on to Calgary, Edmonton, and Regina.
