TAIPEI, Taiwan—Dr. Liang Huaimao, president of the Chinese Nation Cultural Development Association, who is also a former examiner of Higher Government Examination at the Examination Yuan, watched the last show of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company in Taipei on March 25. He indicated that Shen Yun performance touched the audience’s hearts as the show integrated Buddha law, art, music and culture seamlessly, manifesting the authentic spirit of ancient Chinese culture.

Having a doctorate in sociology, Dr. Liang writes books and is frequently invited for public speeches.

He was deeply moved that the New York-based Shen Yun performance perfectly illustrated traditional Chinese culture through artistic presentation.

“It must have been a very challenging journey. The show is really touching that the presentation can reach such a perfect realm. Some music and dances cannot achieve their perfection within a short time. Shen Yun has manifested the spirit of Chinese culture authentically and thoroughly. I am affected very much.”

Dr. Liang said the entire performance, including digital backdrops, dance and choreography, was top-ranked.

In particular, the show demonstrated the characteristics of various nationalities, which amounts to about 70 altogether in Taiwan and China. “There is a vast expanse of national culture. Since culture is life, watching Shen Yun performance is really touching,” stated Dr. Liang.

Referring to Shen Yun’s successful integration of Chinese traditional spirit and Western technologies and lighting that has enabled such a marvelous performance, Dr. Liang exclaimed, “Amazing! Superb!”

As the performance on the platform interpreted the magnificence of the 5,000-year-long culture, the Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Orchestra also provided on-site accompaniment of classical Chinese music in the orchestra pit.

The music moved Dr. Liang, who watched Shen Yun performance for the first time. He gave high praises to erhu performer, Qi Xiaochun, “The erhu play blends our spirits together. The realm is far-reaching.”

Accompanied by friends to the show, Dr. Liang was delighted with the performance. He described the spiritual impact that Shen Yun had brought to him today as “heart-shaking”. He said, “We need more fraternity so that the hatred and misunderstanding in this world can be resolved. Compassion and beauty are the ultimate pursuit for mankind. Compassion is the true principle of the cosmos … . People’s hearts can be changed by arts.”

Dr. Liang, who has dedicated himself to the cultural development of Chinese nationalities since long ago, walked out of the national Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall slowly in the late evening, carrying in his heart at that moment, an abundance of stirred emotions.
