SYDNEY, Australia—The Hon. David Clarke, member of the NSW Legislative Council, was at the Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour show held on Friday, April 24, at the Parade Theatre in Sydney.

Mr. Clarke had seen Shen Yun, the New York-based company, last year and once again appreciated the company’s portrayal of China’s true heritage founded 5,000 years ago.

“Well, it looked just wonderful, a wonderful performance. To come here and see the Chinese heritage going back thousands of years presented here tonight ... spectacular—a wonderful thing to see,” he said.

Shen Yun’s presentation of China’s centuries old divinely inspired culture, evokes an exhilarating display of Chinese classical dance and music based on China’s beloved tales, traditional folklore, and modern-day stories.

“The colour, the professionalism—very artistic. Clearly, a lot of work went into this, a lot of soul. Great performance. They really know what they are doing, and they bring everything together to produce a wonderful, wonderful production,” Mr. Clarke said.

Featuring world-class performers, award-winning vocalists, and groundbreaking music that combine Western and Chinese instrumentals to match each dance and song, with stunning digital backdrops, Shen Yun captivates audiences in all its performances around the world.

Mr. Clarke said he knows very well about Chinese traditional values, before their erosion under communism, as presented by Shen Yun and also knows the importance of the tour around the world.

“We see the real China, the real culture of the Chinese. And we hope one day that culture, which was demonstrated here tonight, can also be the culture of mainland China as well.

“We hope eventually freedom of religion, freedom of culture, [and] political freedom come to the Chinese on the mainland as well. I am sure, one of these days, nothing is more certain.”
