STOCKHOLM, Sweden—New Circus artist Mr. Christell came to see the opening performance of the Shen Yun Performing Arts show of traditional Chinese culture on Wednesday afternoon, March 18, at Cirkus in Stockholm.

“It is a powerful tradition, and there is so much to draw on,” said Mr. Christell.

He is interested in culture from the four corners of the earth. He has visited China, and is also interested in Chinese culture.

Mr. Christell became interested to see Shen Yun when a friend told him about it.

He describes the show as “Orderly and strict, well-trained, and well choreographed.”

He thought that the message of Shen Yun was important, especially the values of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.

“You can have them with you all the time whatever you are doing,” he said.

Mr. Christell believes that these core values are reflected in Chinese traditional culture.

New Circus, or cirque nouveau, emerged around the world in the 1970s and often combines different traditional and modern circus arts in the same number, unlike the ordinary circus which splits up the show into several small portions. It contains a lot of acrobatics, fire arts, and juggling, but it rarely uses animals. Fire is the pillar of Mr. Christell’s show.
