SAN FRANCISCO—Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco on Friday evening, July 23. As part of a summer tour the Shen Yun New York Company brought the beauty and inspiration of ancient Chinese culture to Bay Area residents.

Mr. Johnny Moallempour, CEO of M.J.M Interior Design, was in the audience and shared about his feelings about the performance.

“The colors are fantastic and costumes are wonderful.”

Mr. Moallempour decorates large residential buildings as well as restaurants and commercial buildings in the Bay Area. He found that the show opened up a better understanding of the culture of his Chinese clients.

He commented, “It lets me see within their culture and their minds and what they think and how they operate. It’s beautiful.”

In addition to an artistic perspective arising from his work with design, Mr. Moallempour, who is Iranian, also noted, “I’m also a foreigner, I come from another country, so I know how interpreting the culture through dance and colors of the clothing is very important.”

“Understanding the colors, how [people] are very attracted to certain colors is important, and to integrate them into the design for them to be pleased and it’s also comfortable for their background. They are very attracted to bright colors, pinks, light blues, oranges, so now I can understand why,” he explained regarding the what he will take with him from the show to help him in working with his future clients.

Mr. Moallempour was especially impressed by classical Chinese dance techniques such as rigorous jumps, tumbles, and spins and was amazed by the dancers’ nimbleness and synchronization. “Everybody seems to be extremely nimble, and it’s fantastic,” he concluded.
