SAN DIEGO—The world’s most successful Chinese cultural show, Shen Yun Performing Arts opened in San Diego tonight to an excited crowd.
Inspired by its beauty and desire to revive the lost traditional Chinese arts, Jaime Marti, a business owner who used to operate in Hong Kong, was mesmerized by the “beautiful, beautiful performance.”
Shen Yun is a New York-based company that “seeks to revive the true, five-millennia-old artistic tradition of China that thrived before decades of suppression by the Chinese communist regime. The company seeks to breathe new life into traditional Chinese culture while providing audiences everywhere with an experience of sublime beauty,” according to its website.
Mr. Marti raved about the show. “I think it’s a wonderful way to promote the culture in the United States. I think it is wonderful, very pretty show. Very beautiful and its dances ... I think it’s most important to promote some Chinese culture.”
Mr. Marti emphasized that he would recommend the show “very much” to others. “It’s a beautiful show,” he reiterated.
Shen Yun continues to impress and excite theatergoers around the world as its 2010 world tour continues. San Diego was no exception as the evening ended with a standing ovation at curtain call.
