CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The stunning beauty and majestic artistry of Shen Yun Performing Arts lifted the audience from their seats in a resounding applause following its performance at Charlotte’s Belk Theater at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Jan. 29.
Through the universal languages of music and dance, the New York-based Shen Yun brings 5,000 years of Chinese civilization to life.
In attendance for Shen Yun’s final 2014 Charlotte performance was James and Rita Elliott.
Dr. Elliott, an accomplished research and innovation leader with proven record of success in all phases of food and nutrition industry over his 40-plus-year career, is a former scientist and researcher for DSM, a company based in the Netherlands and headquartered in five continents.
Impressed by the well-rounded breadth of Shen Yun, Dr. Elliot was taken in by every facet of the performance. “It all stands out; it all comes together,” he said.
Dr. Elliott has published over 40 research papers for fortune 500 companies, journals, and vitamin retailer magazines, while providing solid science base for numerous dietary and nutritional products currently on the market.
As for Shen Yun, he was especially touched by the performance’s spiritual component. “It’s a magical mix of dance and spirituality,” he said.
“Principles such as benevolence and justice, propriety and wisdom, respect for the heavens, and divine retribution, all come to life, washing over the audience,” reads Shen Yun’s website. “Originating from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, these ideals are the essence of traditional Chinese culture.”
Mrs. Elliott, a physical therapist at Healthy@Home/Carolinas Medical System, said: “The costumes were lovely, colorful, joyful.”
“It kind of makes you feel like there is a connection between the universe and everybody,” she added.
