OSLO, Norway—Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour enchanted the Norwegian audience, on Saturday, March 14—a premiere event never seen in Norway before.

Oslo is the capital and largest city in Norway with a population of 1.2 million. It is also Norway’s cultural, scientific, economic, and governmental center.

Despite the fact that this time of year many Norwegians head to the mountains to ski, still a lot came to see Shen Yun Performing Arts show at the renowned music venue, Oslo Konserthus. The afternoon show was packed and the evening show, also very well-attended.

During intermission, The Epoch Times asked Mr. Smit, a teacher of drama in Oslo, and his wife, a teacher in arts and crafts, their thoughts about the performance.

Both enjoyed the dances and music performed by Shen Yun.

“It was wonderful to see the dance and listen to the music of an entirely different culture that we are not used to seeing and hearing,” said Mr. Smit.

His wife added; “Very beautiful dances, colors, and costumes. It is very nice to see something that is so thoroughly worked through and so perfect in its form.”

She liked especially the dance movements and beautiful arm movements.

Chinese classical dance has its foundation a complete set of training methods, such as stunning dives, leaps, spins and superlative body control.

Mr. Smit commented on the spiritual concept of the show.

“It [the show] takes you to another dimension, a divine world. I liked the most the legends that involved adventure stories.” Stories like Mulan Joins the Battle and The Monkey King Triumphs are beloved ancient Chinese legends.

Another Norwegian lady in the audience, Ms. Ingalill, is a teacher in music and works just outside of Oslo in a music school. She said the performance was “absolutely fantastic.

“The Tibetan dances were absolutely fantastic, and all the materials in the costumes are so beautiful and have such vivid colors.

“It is great that they [Shen Yun] come all the way from the United States to protect this [traditional] culture and dances, and I hope they will come back to Norway,” said Ms. Ingalill.
