KANSAS CITY, Mo—On Tuesday evening, January 31, 2012 only, Shen Yun Performing Arts will bring to life 5,000 years of divinely inspired civilization in a two and a half hour performance at downtown Kansas City Music Hall, at 7:30 p.m.
Based in New York, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture with performances filled with stories, virtues, and fascinating details that weave from ancient times all the way to the present, according to its website.
The new 2012 world tour includes Shen Yun’s trademark of stunning costumes and traditional Classical Chinese and ethnic dance, original orchestra music with both Western and Chinese instruments, and amazing high technology stage backdrops.
Shen Yun receives a VIP welcome with greeting letters from Mayor Sly James, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas Governor Sam Brownback. Mayor Steve Dennis of the City of Grandview, Missouri and Mayor Peggy Dunn of the City of Leawood, Kansas issued proclamations.
Kansas City is known for its appreciation of the arts, beauty and cultural diversity making Shen Yun an appealing performance in the KC metro area.
“We have a saying here that our city has more boulevards than Paris and more fountains than Rome,” Mayor James said in a greeting letter to Shen Yun performers.
Mayor Peggy Dunn commended Shen Yun, in the Office of the Mayor City of Leawood Proclamation, for providing quality entertainment.
“This world-class celebration of traditional Chinese culture and performing arts will certainly bring added joy, beauty, and grace to all those fortunate enough to witness the wonder of Shen Yun,” Governor Brownback said in his greeting.
“It is wonderful to have such fantastic performers showcase their talent here in the Greater Kansas City area.”
The hosts of the show are the Greater Kansas City Arts and Culture Association and the Falun Dafa Association of Kansas City, non-profit organizations.
