PITTSBURGH—Michael Wiener, A self employed real estate investor who came all the way from Akron to view this cultural performance, shared his experience at intermission of seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Shen Yun, a company based in New York, aims to revitalize 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through dance and music.

“The costumes are just so beautiful,” he said in awe, mentioning that Chinese history was successfully presented through the dances.

The traditional values, like good-versus-evil, are present in the stories told through Shen Yun’s mini-dramas as well.

Mr. Wiener said that a dance depicting China today, in particular, moved him greatly.

When asked about a message, Mr. Wiener said “The people are one with nature,” expressing his feeling of spirituality in the performance overall.

Chinese civilization had always been considered of divine origins and that a true humankind is one in which heaven and man are in harmony, according to the company’s website.

“I am looking forward to more of that beauty between human and nature. I just don’t know what to expect,” he said, looking forward to the second half of the performance.
