NEW YORK—Opening night of Shen Yun Performing Arts at Manhattan’s Lincoln Center captivated a full house with its classical Chinese dance, virtuoso soloists, East-West orchestra, dazzling costumes, and animated backdrops.
“I think it’s magical ... it’s absolutely glorious,” said Gail Luria, a financial adviser, after watching the first half of Friday’s performance.
“It makes me feel alive, it feels alive,” said Ms. Luria.
“Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture,” according to the company’s website.
“It’s majestic, and powerful,” said Ms. Luria, adding that she would recommend that friends “certainly see it.”
With Chinese dance as its hallmark, Shen Yun has become an international phenomenon, each year gracing some of the world’s most prestigious theaters. Millions have seen Shen Yun perform since its inception.
