HSINCHU, Taiwan—Yang Fuliang, director of the National Nano Device Laboratories (NDL), a research affiliate of Taiwan’s National Applied Research Laboratories (NARL), attended the fifth show of New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts in Hsinchu on the afternoon of March 22. He said, “This is a very special experience!”
Awarded a doctorate in materials science and engineering by the University of Cambridge, Dr. Yang has achieved significant success in technological science.
In his interview, Dr. Yang said that each program of Shen Yun is characterized by elements and colors of authentic Chinese culture. Deeply touched by every single program, he was grateful to the Shen Yun performers, artists, and staff for their efforts to renew human culture. “What touches me most is their devotion to renewing Chinese culture.
“The arrangement of the program includes ethnic dance of Han, Manchu, Mongols, Hui, Tibetan, Miao, and Yao. Judged from the cultural diversity, we can see tolerance of Shen Yun as well as the arrangement and design of the programs based on love.”
Dr. Yang said that he was particularly impressed with a program called The Poet’s Vision. He said, “The backdrop is perfectly integrated into the performance. The integration in turn vividly presents onstage goddesses descending to the secular world and ascending to heaven. New high-tech effects and traditional Chinese culture fuse to create uniqueness.
“The Shen Yun show enables me to appreciate cultural heritage and dance of Chinese ethnic groups in a very short time. This is very special. I would like to recommend Shen Yun to my friends and relatives.”
