GEELONG, Australia—Ms. Liang and her partner came from Zhejiang Province in China to Melbourne to study their masters degree. On April 4, they got on a tour bus and saw Shen Yun Performing Arts perform at Costa Hall in Geelong.

They were asked what made them decide to come along and see the show.  “[The advertisements] said this performance was very refined, moving, and displayed China’s most traditional, upright culture, so I wanted to come and take a look,” Ms. Liang explained.

“Seeing it, I feel that it’s really moving. That kind of really elegant dancing, I feel that is something for us to appreciate. I’m expecting there will be even more exciting programs in the next half!” she shared at intermission.

Her partner, who wanted to remain anonymous, said Mulan was his favourite program. He explained how he had studied it in his textbooks in China.

He said that he also enjoyed the dancing very much.

‘Extremely terrific performance’

Another student from mainland China, Mr. Li an IT exchange student, attended the matinee of the  Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour on April 4.

“This is my first time seeing a performance like this. The first thing I felt was the visual energy and power of the performance. Secondly, through watching this performance, it has helped me remember some histories that I had forgotten, some true histories,” he said.

Summing it up, he said “I feel this is an extremely, extremely terrific performance. From the performance I also saw how the Chinese Communist Party persecutes ordinary citizens, and this leads me to ponder.

“I also see that these performers are all very young, but all so professional, talented, and excellent. The other thing I paid special attention to were their facial expressions. I can really understand that kind of sincerity they have, that kind of straight-from-the-heart sincerity.”
