Shen Yun Expresses the Complexity of Chinese History and Culture
Robert and Karen Pasternak taking a moment after seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Detroit Opera House on Feb. 22, 2018. “I actually really liked the song that the soprano sang. The words were very beautiful that were being displayed up on there. I just thought they resonated with me,” Ms. Pasternak said. “It just was very symbolic of what’s happening today and how we just moved away from our core values. It just seemed to resonate that way.” (Nancy Ma/The Epoch Times)

“It was wonderful. It was very complex. It was very entertaining so that’s why I think I enjoyed it.”

“I think it’s very worthwhile. I think it’s meaningful to express [the divine nature of the culture]. I think it’s very important to have shows like this for that purpose. ... I think it’s very valuable from the perspective of not just the overall artistic capabilities of the people that were dancing, right? Obviously, they worked very hard for it and which is very, I’ll say, encouraging.

“What they brought to the stage and what they brought to the show was the culture of Chinese history, ... I think that was the whole intent ... to show the historical, cultural, Chinese history. But it’s very complex from that perspective.”
