DALLAS—After watching Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Jan. 3, painter Ms. Blumenau was especially impressed by its beauty and grace.

“I love how it was all put together, with the different colors and the movement of the [dancers],” Ms. Blumenau said. “So gorgeous.”

The New York based Shen Yun seeks to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture through brilliantly choreographed dances and all-original orchestral compositions. Chinese dance is at the heart of what Shen Yun does, and the impeccable technique of Shen Yun’s dancers left Ms. Blumenau in awe.

“Their precision was fantastic, the way they were all kept together,” Ms. Blumenau said. “I think there is an Asian feeling that’s very, very precise, that’s very well together, very well organized, very well rehearsed, and it comes through in the performances.”

In addition to music and dance, Shen Yun’s performances also feature digital backdrops that create vividly animated settings, truly bringing the stage to life.

“These digital backdrop designs complement and synchronize all aspects of the performance: the characters, color of the costumes, specific dance movements, props, lighting, the story being told, particular notes played by the orchestra, and special audio effects,” reads Shen Yun’s website.

“[The] backdrops were amazing,” Ms. Blumenau added. “I thought that they were just beautifully done. I don’t know how they did it.”

For an artist like Ms. Blumenau, the stunning beauty of Shen Yun certainly made a lasting impression. “I loved it. Very beautiful. Very, very well done,” she said.
