WASHINGTON—Mr. Hordan, a mental health professional , and his friend Ms. Liu were among the delighted audience who saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Kennedy Center Opera House during its August run in Washington, D.C.

“I enjoyed the show—very spectacular. ... I enjoyed the male dancers the most, the one on the snow-capped mountain [Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain], the Tibetan dance, and also the drum sequence [Drummers of the Tang Court]. It was very exciting! I enjoyed it very much.”

The costumes have dazzled audiences wherever Shen Yun has performed, and Washington was no exception.

“The costumes, I thought, were great—the whole flow, the whole movement, ... those dancers, very fit. Great choreography, the whole bit.”

Mr. Hordan was glad that he had bought a ticket to the show and said that he would definitely be back when the show returned to Washington in January 2010.

Ms. Liu also shared her views of the show: “The energy is one after another, continually, and the colorful costumes were just amazing. I loved every part of it. They were also telling the stories. ... This is my first time. I will continue to follow [Shen Yun], and see where the next show is.”

Ms. Liu, a world traveler born in Indonesia with a Chinese heritage, was brought up and worked for some time in Japan. She arrived in Washington, D.C., about a year ago.

New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts will stage three more shows in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 29 and 30 and return to Kennedy Center again Jan. 20 to 24, 2010, with completely new programs.
