BRNO, Czech Republic—New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts Company performed in Brno’s Janacek Theatre on Thursday, April 16.

Ms. Fajtlova and Ms. Kucerova, corporate representatives at a leading advertising company, were in the audience. Both were anticipating the show excitedly, lured there by the beautiful pictures they had seen advertised.

To see stories through dance, song, and music drawn from China’s 5,000-year-old culture is rare in that part of the world.

Ms. Fajtlova said they truly enjoyed the show. “Of course, it was a really nice show, and beautiful. We like Chinese culture very much. It was very interesting. Marvelous.

“We like the choreography and costumes, and the singing was really beautiful.”

The two appreciated learning more about modern-day China through the two programs Heaven Awaits us Despite Persecution and Dignity and Compassion.

“Our hearts were touched by the purity of the entire performance, in contrast with the rough reality we live around us. We were very pleased that we could know more about classical Chinese culture and about its actual problems. Thank you for the opportunity to see it. We wish you all the best in organizing similar events.”

Shen Yun Was Beyond Expectations

Mr. Zabojnik, marketing sales manager for an Internet company, was glad to have bought tickets to the Shen Yun show. He decided to come to the show after watching the promotional video. He learned more about the Shen Yun artists from their Web site.

“I’ve heard some references, but it [the show] was beyond my expectations.

“I was surprised at what I saw—certainly. Any short reference or any official promo won’t bring it nearer to you. It’s a great experience!

“I don’t know for sure which scene it was, but I enjoyed the drums [Dragon Springs Drummers] very much. It was just in the beginning, and then the long sleeves [Flowing Sleeves]—how tender they were!

“The singers were also extraordinary, and we had a great experience in every aspect.

“I enjoyed the final scene, where there was everything. I could see how very difficult all of the dancing was. I wouldn’t want to do that myself.”

Ms. Kohutova, a geologist, was also in the audience. She said, “We really enjoyed the show. ... There are such humane thoughts. ... Chinese culture is completely different from ours and even from the Japanese culture.”
