BRISBANE, Australia—It was Good Friday, a day of rest for local Brisbane theatre goers, so when they stepped out that evening to catch the Shen Yun show, they were ready to embrace the New York-based performance group.
It was a packed house at the Queensland Conservatorium Theatre, and the audience let Shen Yun performers that know they were loving it.
One couple said they enjoyed the fact that it was something completely different, ”so beautiful”, they said.
Another couple commented on the dancing, saying how easy it looked, but noting how hard it was to do.
Ms Peters, a finance officer, was impressed with the skill level presented by Shen Yun.
“The technique is perfect. The fitness of the people is amazing,” she said.
It was the dancing that moved her the most, “just seeing some of the agility and the grace,” she said.
The soprano, Chia-ning Hsu, had also made an impression. “That was pretty special,” she said.
Ms Kersley, who works at Queensland Treasury, thought the Shen Yun performance was “awesome”, noting that the choreography was “just spectacular”, and the costumes “really breathtaking”.
Her friend, Mr Faulkner, who works in the Queensland Department of Justice, said he particularly liked the scene Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain, a rigorous scene depicting the joys of the Tibetan dancing.
“I’m a big fan of constant movement. The costumes, and the timing and the choreography is excellent”, he said.
Shen Yun will perform two more shows on Saturday, April 11 and a matinee on Sunday, April 12. Shen Yun will be in Toowoomba on Monday, April 13.
