BERLIN—Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour showcased at the Friedrichstadtpalast, March 23, to a large appreciative audience that gave standing ovations and curtain calls at the end.

It was a new experience for Dr. Letsch, a medical doctor, who came with a group of friends.

“Wonderful dances, wonderful costumes, wonderfully colorful, everything! Actually, [this is] quite foreign to me, because I have had no contact whatsoever with Chinese culture—no connection, nevertheless, quite interesting to become acquainted with this for an evening,” he said.

Dr. Letsch thought the presentation, an extravaganza of Chinese classical dance and music founded upon China’s ancient divinely-inspired cultural heritage, was well done.

“Also, Chinese instruments—I found it interesting to listen to these, because they convey a completely different tonal note than a [Western] orchestra.”

Dr. Letsch said he hoped through the work of the New York-based Shen Yun production, Chinese culture would be preserved and will thus be returned to China.

“Their work is impressive. It is obvious that it comes from their souls,” he said.

Dr. Letsch said he sensed that an inner strength exuding from the artists derived from the spiritual self-cultivation practice, Falun Dafa. He said he would visit the Internet Web site to learn more.
