One lady from the audience was very enthusiastic, saying, “Oh it is absolutely breathtaking. It is wonderful. There are not enough adjectives to describe it. I can’t wait to come again. My father, whose from Connecticut, is going to fly back and see it.”
The lady’s companion, Michael, a music teacher, who is originally from England, but is now teaching in North Carolina, offered his opinion. “This is a unique performance. I have never seen so moving a production ... with beauty in the music and the dance and the colors. The colors are out of this world.
“The combination of the colors with the music ... and I didn’t expect Chinese music to be like this at all. So I was very surprised, and it is [a] startling, stunning performance. And I am thoroughly enjoying myself.”
The Shen Yun orchestra brings together two of the world’s greatest classical music traditions, Chinese and Western, in a masterful fusion. With Western instruments as its foundation, the orchestra brings out Chinese musical flair through a variety of Chinese instruments.
Michael, who has often been to the theater to enjoy a variety of shows, finished by saying, “I think that this has got diversity and it is very hard for me, a European in origin, to say that there is anything in Europe that is quite as colorful as this performance.”
