PASADENA—Among the audience that watched the Divine Performing Arts show on New Years Eve in Pasadena Civic Auditorium was famous screenwriter Mr. Cardinale. The Emmy-nominated author has written for acclaimed TV shows.  He currently writes screenplays and dramas.

Mr. Cardinale, who said that he likes Chinese culture very much, was enchanted after watching Divine Performing Arts: “I like the show. I think it is very colorful. I like the costumes and I like the dancing, it is very pretty and graceful.”

When asked which part he liked the best, Mr. Cardinale said, “I think the men—when the men were dancing. For some reason I like that.”

He said he preferred the dancing programs; and the singing was good too.

Mr. Cardinale said he found the dance “Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution”  very good, although he no previous knowledge of Falun Gong. The story depicts a little girl’s father being tortured to death for practicing the traditional meditation system in China.

“It’s been spectacular; very wonderful; very enjoyable,” said Mr. Anson, a lawyer who also attended the performance in Los Angeles.

When asked what he liked in particular regarding the backdrop, orchestra, and dancing, Mr. Anson said: “Everything seems to be weaved really well, composed well, and everything seems to come together really harmoniously. I particularly like drums. I must say I like the drums.”

“Well, you know, it’s definitely Chinese culture,” he continued. “It’s stating the obvious if anyone knows history in China with Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism, and modern politics and everything else that goes on... Anybody who’s educated knows about these things. It’s a nice, energetic, wonderful presentation.”

He also commented that he liked the host and hostesses. “They kind of weave everything together and make everything comfortable for both English speaking and Chinese, as well as everybody else. It’s a very diverse audience.”
