SAN FRANCISCO—The Chinese New Year Spectacular presented by Divine Performing Arts (DPA) opened today at the San Francisco Opera House as part of its 2009 World Tour.

Mr. Tambrin, who performs in a community theater, attended today’s show with his daughter. They were among the audience treated to the beauty of the Chinese classical dance accompanied by a live orchestra.

This was the first time Mr. Tambrin had seen a DPA performance and they were impressed. Mr. Tambrin said, “The show was great. I’m a performer as well, and I love seeing different kinds of dances and different kinds of shows that kind of allow me to open up my eyes to things I haven’t experienced before.”

Mr. Tambrin likes to share new experiences and memories with his daughter. He said, “I thought it was a very special moment; and bringing my daughter to it too was very special as well. … I’ve never really seen anything like this before.”

He enjoyed most Welcoming Spring. “With the flowers and the really beautiful fans, I thought that was a good one. That was very nice. And what a beautiful space too. I’ve never been in here before. This was a special thing, again, because I got to bring my daughter; this is her second time coming.”

Welcoming Spring is an exuberant, joyful folk dance with quick steps and festive explosions of color.
