Salep is a traditional hot drink from Turkey made with milk and the flour of dried orchid tubers. The popularity of this hot drink among Turks dates back to 8th century. It is prepared by mixing salep flour with cold milk and sugar.

The mixture is stirred on low heat for 10–15 minutes until it comes to a boil. The drink is served hot with ground cinnamon on top. It is known to be good for healing respiratory problems like bronchitis and coughs.
