KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company has achieved overwhelming success with sold out events since its April 6 performance in Kaohsiung. Among the audience on Saturday evening, April 9, were Li Meihua, president of Kaohsiung Lily Lions Club, Lions Club International, and her friends.
Ms. Li praised Shen Yun for its professionalism, creativity of the choreographed dances, and its original orchestral music that brings together instruments spanning East and West. Finding the overall performance refreshing, she said, “Attending Shen Yun is really like finding treasures!”
Ms. Li said that she has attended Shen Yun several times, and enjoys the all-new production every year. As CEO of the Lions Club Chorus, Ms. Li particularly enjoyed Shen Yun’s live orchestral music. She said, “At first I did not notice it, supposing that Western instruments were used to play traditional Chinese compositions and songs. With the introduction of the emcees, I came to understand the orchestra blends Eastern and Western instruments. The orchestral performance stands out! It’s really terrific!”
Ms. Li was full of praise for the contents of the program. She said, “Now it is an era of creativity. Look at the little monks in the dance Little Mischievous Monks, how cute they are. The movements are designed to be mischievous, active, creative, giving the audience a refreshing experience.”
She said, “China’s territory spans extensively. Dances like Herding On The Grasslands, Plum Blossom, and My Beloved Yi Village present regional features. Shen Yun’s astonishing variety of programs bring to life cultural heritages of the Qin, Tang, and Qing dynasties, noted for their own distinct attire, for instance, the dance Manchurian Elegance.”
