The International Photography Awards (IPA) describes its mission: “To salute the achievements of the world’s finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talent, and to promote the appreciation of photography worldwide.”

In its twelfth year, IPA selects 45 images from both professional and amateur photographers in its annual competition to be shown at an exclusive exhibition in New York, with the best of the best embarking on a world tour. Submissions are currently being accepted for the 2014 awards.

The International Photographer of the Year award goes to professional photographers, but amateurs and students can compete for the Discovery of the Year award, also announced at the Lucie Awards gala. This award comes with a $5,000 cash prize.

The two other top awards are The Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year, both pros and non-pros also compete for this award.
