It’s National Boss Day 2013 today, Oct. 16.
Some of us would prefer to not think about our own bosses and remember the funniest and most worthy bosses of television shows and movies.
Here’s 5 bosses who have become famous or infamous for their feats and actions in television and on the big screen.
1. Michael Scott “The Office”
Pretty much everyone knows of Mr. Scott, a fun-loving boss who is very sensitive and painfully awkward at times.
Some say “The Office” was never the same after he left the show.
His best jokes may have been in the first several episodes, when he was in the middle of the beginning of the prank war between Dwight and Jim.
2. Bill Lumbergh “Office Space”
Lumbergh is the boss representing all bosses that people dislike.
He steals his employee’s girlfriend and make people work on the weekends.
3. Ron Swanson “Parks and Recreation
Swanson is the gentleman of all gentlemen and loves nothing better than to educate young children about the perils of big government, and going out to dinner to enjoy some serious steak and whiskey.
He has a soft side, brought out by his subordinate Leslie.
He also has a mean handlebar mustache.
4. Dr. Perry Cox and Dr. Bob Kelso “Scrubs”
There’s two big bosses in Scrubs, though most would say Perry Cox is the funnier one of the bunch.
They both deliver hilarious lines throughout the show, sometimes in fast-paced conversations with each other.
Their words also have deep meaning, though, with Cox in particular sometimes doling out advice to J.D. and the other doctors.
5. Charlie Skinner, “Newsroom”; Jack McCoy, “Law & Order”
Skinner’s backbone and usually calm demeanor are tested in the second season of the hit HBO show, but his resolve helps everyone continue working through crisis.
Sam Waterston has had a lot of experience playing a boss, with his role as Jack McCoy in “Law & Order.”
