HeadlineMONTREAL—It was the first time for music video director Bernard Nadeau to see Shen Yun Performing Arts, currently playing at Montreal’s Place des Arts.
Mr. Nadeau said he is usually very critical, but he had praise for the show he saw on Saturday afternoon.
“I think the music is tight and the show is tight and it’s very pretty,” he said. Mr. Nadeau also said that he liked the different rhythms the show had to offer and that he enjoyed the choreography.
Mr. Nadeau has directed music videos for artists including Wyclef Jean and Lara Fabian.
He said that everything was nice and that he enjoyed traditional Chinese culture portrayed by New York-based Shen Yun, adding that one message he took away from the show was freedom.
Shen Yun features classical Chinese dance, world-renowned vocal soloists, and an orchestra that combines traditional Chinese and Western instruments.
Mr. Nadeau said that he likes traditional Chinese culture “very much.”
As its mission, Shen Yun aspires to reclaim and renew traditional Chinese culture through its performances. Much of these traditions have been lost since the Chinese Communist Party came to power in China and carried out various campaigns to stamp out the country’s ancient traditions.

Shen Yun will be performing one more show in Montreal this Sunday, Jan. 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Place Des Arts. For more information, please visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
