The Mom Prom was held in suburban Detroit last week, drawing more than 100 women dressed in old prom dresses, according to an article by The Associated Press.

According to the report, the event asks the ladies to try to get into their dress from their teenage years and even crowns a queen at the end.

The event is just for giggles, however, it has the capability to raise money, according to the report. Thousands of dollars have been raised via the event for charities, including for cancer research.

The most recent event raised more than $3,000 for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the HHT Foundation, said AP.

“We’re changing the world, ladies, one prom at a time,” said the event’s organizer Betsy Crapps, as 1980s music was playing in the background.

Crapps told AP that other Mom Prom events are being set up in other states including New York, Illinois, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.
