A mother from the United Kingdom has given birth to a baby weighing over 11 pounds—the same weight as a bowling ball.

Helen Sellers, 34, gave birth to her daughter, Celia, who weighed 11 pounds 5 ounces (5.15 kg), almost six weeks ago.

The mom-of-two and mental health nurse revealed that Celia was one of the biggest babies her midwife had ever delivered in her 16-year career.

Celia’s brother, Roman, 3, weighed 9 pounds (approx. 4.08 kg) when he was born, and Helen and her husband, Carl, 37, were both under 9 pounds as newborns.

“Carl is 6 foot 7 now, but he wasn’t a big baby, so we’re not sure why Celia was so big,” Helen, from Leeds, Yorkshire, said.

Due to her big bump, when Helen was pregnant with Celia, she'd always be asked if she was expecting twins.

“There was one lady at work who asked me a few times if I was sure it wasn’t twins!” Helen said.

The doctors had even tested her for gestational diabetes, but the result was negative.

Helen was informed by her consultant that the baby was going to be big, but not as big as Roman.

Before her delivery, Helen even played guess the weight of the baby with her family, and her cousin put down 11 pounds.

“I thought that was so cheeky, but he was right!,” Helen said. “I never expected her to be that weight.”

After Celia was born, the midwives had hilarious reactions to her size.

“My midwife had worked for 16 years and she said Celia was the second biggest baby she'd ever seen,” Helen said.

“I had to have a C-section, and it took them ages to get her out,” Helen recalled. “I initially wanted to try natural delivery, but I’m glad I didn’t now, because I’m not sure she would have come out.”

Due to her size, Celia became the talk of the ward, and everyone wanted to see her.

After Celia was born, the little girl had to go straight into 0–3 clothes, as none of the newborn clothes would fit her.

“I had bought a couple of baby grows that were up to one month, and I didn’t even bother getting them out the packet,” Helen said. “I knew they wouldn’t fit her.

“I had bought some 0–3-month stuff, and she’s already in 3–6-month clothes now.”
