ST. PAUL, Minn.—“Thank you for your work to promote traditional Chinese culture,” wrote Mayor R.T. Rybak in his Letter of Greeting. The mayor of St. Paul extended a warm welcome to Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company, set to grace the stage at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, Wednesday, March 16.

Mayor Rybak called Shen Yun’s debut to St. Paul, “A special occasion in which viewers from every walk of life are able to enjoy centuries-old Chinese traditions and values.”

Shen Yun presents exhilarating performances of classical Chinese culture and dance, thrilling elected officials, community and business leaders and members of Minnesota’s arts community.

United States Senator Amy Klobucher expressed her appreciation in her Letter of Welcome and said, “I am honored to welcome this talented group of artists to the state of Minnesota.”

Senator Klobucher acknowledged the mission of the world renowned company to restore classical Chinese culture and said, “The work carried on by Shen Yun Performing Arts contributes to enhancing our awareness of Chinese culture . . . the aesthetic and philosophical aspects that have been traditionally inherent to the Chinese people.”

In his Letter of Welcome, United States Senator Al Franken welcomed Shen Yun’s artists and said, “Happy New Year and welcome to Minnesota. Minnesotans of all backgrounds are very fortunate to be able to experience such an exciting exhibition of classical Chinese dance and music in our state.”

Senator Franken said Shen Yun’s performance, “Can only enhance our efforts at peace and understanding throughout our community, our nation, and the world.”

United States Congressman Keith Ellison expressed his deep appreciation and in his Letter of Welcome said, “It is my pleasure to welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts as they bring the legacy of China’s traditions to life on stage in Minnesota.”

Congressman Ellison called Shen Yun’s presentation of classical Chinese dance and music, “definitely a most unforgettable and magnificent celebration.”

United States Congressman Erik Paulsen thanked Shen Yun Performing Arts and said, “You should be proud of the contributions you make to the state. With events such as this, we will strengthen the appreciation and understanding between our two cultures. Thank you for the privilege of greeting you at today’s event.”

United States Congresswoman Michele Bachman extended a Letter of Welcome and said, “It is my privilege to welcome Shen Yun’s rich demonstration of traditional Chinese culture back to Minnesota. It is a great privilege to host such a marvelous display of Chinese dance and music.”

State Representative Phyllis Kahn welcomed the world renowned company’s return to Minnesota and said, “We are able to again experience the world-class artistry of Shen Yun performing Arts. Blending thousands of years of Chinese culture. ... A celebration of history and beauty, Shen Yun unites communities, countries and culture around the world with their performances.

Kirk C. Allison, Director, Program in Human Rights and Health, University of Minnesota, wrote, “May Shen Yun Performing Arts continue to engage audiences in classical and current contexts with the highest aesthetic values in music, costume, and dance.”
