A photo that is being shared on Facebook and Twitter claims to show the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which is fake.

The caption reads as follows: “Malaysia Airlines crashes in to the Ocean 239 Diead [sic], the Flight was Traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing v pary [sic], those who injured in this incidence and Rest in peace those Who diead [sic].”

However, the photo that is being shared is actually a photo submitted to the New York Times of the January 2009 US Airways Flight 1549 landing on the Hudson River in New York City, also known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.”

There’s been a few other rumors saying that the plane landed safely in China or that passengers on board the aircraft contacted loved ones, but those are unconfirmed and uncorroborated.

According to reports on Monday, there’s been no sign of the Malaysia Airlines flight.

“Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, we have not found anything that appear to be objects from the aircraft, let alone the aircraft,” Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, director general of the Malaysian Civil Aviation Department, told CNN.

Rahman said that the mysteries surrounding the plane’s disappearance haven’t been figured out yet.

“For the aircraft to go missing just like that ... as far as we are concerned, we are equally puzzled as well,” Rahman said.

The identities of some of the passengers are also unclear, he said.
