Lollapalooza, the alt-rock festival that was helped launched by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell in the early 90s, is set to take its tour to Chile.
For the first time ever, the concert will go outside the United States and head to Santiago for two days on April 2nd and 3rd next year in O’Higgins Park, according to the concert’s website.
Lollapalooza was at one time only a summer tour but in 2005, it became a weekend festival in Chicago.
“There are a series of prerequisites when selecting a destination. Number one is space. It must be open and lovely; scalable up to 100,000 patrons,” Farrell told MTV, adding that the concert will have both international artists as well as local Chilean artists.
Spinner reported that the artist chose Santiago because its residents “have a passion for contemporary music and lead international lifestyles.”
Farrell’s band Jane Addiction will likely be the headliner at the Chile festival, Spinner reported.
