KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Governor Sam Brownback, Senator Pat Roberts, Congressmen Kevin Yoder and Emanual Cleaver were honored that KC Music Hall was included in the 2011 Shen Yun Perfoming Arts 2011 World Tour, on Apr. 13.
Shen Yun is a premier classical Chinese dance and music company based in New York with the mission to reawaken traditional Chinese culture and morals such as truth, compassion and loyalty, lost under six decades of communist rule.
Kansas Governor Brownback stated in a letter of welcome; “This outstanding presentation of traditional Chinese culture, portrayed through Chinese classical dance and music offers an excellent opportunity to enhance and enrich the diverse cultural life of our community.
“Kansas City is considered to be the heart of America, geographically as well as in character,” Governor Brownback stated.
“As a midway point between the east and west coasts, I find it very appropriate for us to consider Kansas City a place that truly embraces the diversity of Eastern and Western cultures, bringing them together in this special place we call home.”
“It is a testament to our culture and community that we have the opportunity to host an event as special as the Shen Yun Performing Arts,” Kansas Congressman Yoder said in his greeting letter to the Greater Kansas City Arts and Culture Association, one of the show’s sponsor.
Congressman Cleaver of Missouri expressed gratitude in his letter of greeting too saying that Shen Yun fosters “an appropriation and better understanding of the Chinese culture.”
“It is an honor to join you in celebrating Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month,” stated Kansas’ Senator Roberts. “ ... Shen Yun offers an excellent opportunity to enhance and enrich the already diverse and cultural life of the community. He stated further, ”I am confident that Kansas City will embrace all that Shen Yun offers.”
Kansas City audience did embrace Shen Yun at its April 13, 2011 performance at Music Hall with high praise, shouts of “bravo” and enthusiastic applause.
Shen Yun Performing Arts is one of three companies currently touring throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.
